Day 1 of UK Luxury Tour: The Lake District

Arriving at Manchester International Airport, you will be greeted by your personal chauffeur guide and driven in comfort to the Lake District region of Cumbria; this is a journey of approximately 2 hours. The Lake District, also known as The Lakes, is one of England's most treasured National Parks. A mountainous region in North West England, the area is famous for its lakes, forests and mountains (known as fells).

William WordsworthWilliam Wordsworth - As well as its natural beauty, the area has been made famous for its association with early 19th Century poet William Wordsworth, whose acclaimed and influential poetry depicted his observations and experiences during his time living in The Lakes at 'Dove Cottage'.

Quote:"I travelled among unknown men, in lands beyond the sea; nor England! did I know till then what love I bore to thee." - William Wordsworth

The first place to visit will be Blackwell House, overlooking Lake Windermere; built in 1900, the house is one of the finest examples of architecture from the Arts and Crafts movement. Following Blackwell House, we will continue the drive through tight winding roads, towards Coniston and the former home of the 19th Century art critic John Ruskin, Brantwood House. During the afternoon we will visit William Wordsworth's first Lake District home Dove Cottage, and his final home Rydal Mount.

Your accommodation for the night is a beautiful Lakeland Country Hotel overlooking Esthwaite Water.
