Day Three of UK Luxury Tour: Stamford and Cambridge
We will depart York and head South on the old Roman road, now the A1, to the Lincolnshire town of Stamford. Here we will tour one of the jewels of English country houses, Burghley, which has been home to the Cecil family for over 400 years.
Then on to the university town of Cambridge, with colleges such as 'Trinity' founded by Henry VIII, and Corpus Christi with its impressive medieval court. There are plenty of options to explore the city, maybe a guided tour if you wish, or simply wonder and observe the city's architecture, heritage and beautiful winding river; to walk along the banks of the river Cam on a summer evening is an experience to treasure.
Tonight you will stay in one of Cambridge's finest hotels, overlooking the River Cam, just a few minutes walk from the very heart of the city. Strolling along the Cam, through Jesus Green, you may wish to take a 45-minute chauffeured punt tour, viewing the famous Cambridge landmarks such as King's College Chapel, The Wren Library at Trinity College and the Bridge of Sighs. following your evening meal, why not take a twililght stroll amidst the magnificent college buildings; they are well lit in the evenings, and look particularly spectacular at night.
